Layers of Life
This is a unique piece of art because there are many layers that were not intended. I wish I had photos of the transformation this piece encountered. It started with a basic sunset scene with acrylic paints. I wasn’t very happy with how it turned out, so I just let it sit and I moved on to a different piece. A few weeks later, I was working on some home improvement and had leftover caulking (tube was broken so I couldn’t save it). I don’t like wasting material, so I made a textured tree and edges on the sunset canvas. Again, it didn’t quite work how I wanted, so it sat again for a few weeks.
I painted over it with multiple different colors of spray paint to try and make it look better, and no such luck. I then poured a layer of epoxy resin and intended for the trees texture to be raised leaving texture on the surface. This piece was just not working for me. I was getting frustrated and almost tossed it in the trash! Waited a few more weeks and boom! The energy flooded through my veins. Layer after layer of resin, pigment, and glass, this beautiful tree painting emerged.
Life has many different challenges and layers that all pile on top of each other. Sometimes it is frustrating, stressful, and chaotic, but they teach us lessons and helps us grow into better humans. We need to listen to our experiences and challenging moments and grow from them.
I hope this painting connects to you and helps you realize that the layers of life are built up for a reason and that we grow stronger and stronger from our past and experiences.
