We often become our own warriors, rallying our positive thoughts against our negative thoughts through the battle-field of our minds. In the times that we feel like a warrior fighting for our right to think wholesome and positive thoughts, I am often reminded of the Ancient Nubian God, Apedemak.
Apedemak is a War God, most commonly portrayed to the Meroitic people as a man or animal with the head of a Lion. Known as a protector of Warriors, the Lion looking back at me through the canvas assures me that I am not alone, and helps me find the Lion-like fierceness within myself at the times that I need it most.
We wage our most private battles with ourselves in the safest area of the house. For this reason, a fierce reminder such as this painting ought to be hung in a personal space: be it a bedroom, or spacious closet; wherever it is that you go to disconnect and find yourself. Apedemak will greet you with the strength and versatility needed to win your battle, just as he did for the Pharaohs who prayed to him in 785 BC.
